The project, in collaboration with the department of livestock breeding veterinary (LBVD) in Pin Laung Township, recruited volunteers and provided practical training and assistance to animals’ health care in villages within the project area with the aim to reduce animal mortality. In addition, the volunteers under the guidance of the LBVD provide monthly veterinary care in the village from 2019 to 2024. The following are the livestock trainings completed up to July.
Volunteers working as a bridge between the project and the village provide close medical care to the animals of the villages, which is one of the main sources of income in addition to agriculture. There are animals that are treated and cured, but there are also animals that have died from diseases. The project also holds animal’s monthly meetings and workshops to improve the capacity of individual volunteers, to identify difficulties faced, check monthly performance, and encouraging collaboration and teamwork and to discuss village needs together. The results of the close medical service provided by volunteers from 2019 to July 2024 are show table.

The project, in collaboration with the department of livestock breeding and veterinary (LBVD) in Pin Laung township, distributed essential veterinary medicines, medical supplies and medicine kits to the project volunteers to provide animal health services. In addition, after consultation with the project and volunteers, funding for veterinary treatment in addition to medical funding system was set up to provide timely purchase of necessary medicines. The number of kits distributed and the funds distributed from 2019 to 2024 are as table.
The project with the aims to provide adequate animal feed, which is one of the basic needs of the livestock sector, is distributed through the volunteers to livestock farmers in the project area. In addition, Navier grass cultivation techniques were demonstrated. The following is a list of Navier grass clusters distributed to villages.
The project selected farmers in the project villages who were not engaged in agriculture or do not have livestock as a priority criterion, and purchased buffaloes / cows and distributed them directly to these farmers with the aim of providing food security and poverty alleviation. Buffalo bank was set up in Pin Khin village tract and Hmway Pyin village tract, from the 4 village Tract, and cattle bank was set up in Paw In Village Tract and Loi Maw Village Tract. A total of 142 buffaloes and 69 cows have been donated to 211 households in the 4 village tracts. From 2019 to 2024 The number of buffaloes distributed as of July is as follows:
To enhance the capabilities of volunteers and improve the effectiveness of animal health services, the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department (LBVD) of Pin Laung District and project staff in addition with village volunteers holding regular monthly meetings. During these meetings, experiences and knowledge are shared. Additionally, they reviewed monthly treatment records and funding accounts of the volunteers, providing guidance on record-keeping and financial management.
