The project aims to provide adequate water for consumption and for agriculture in project villages. The project’s water expert team conducted a detailed survey of the drainage system, water source routes and the condition of water flow in the “71” villages of the project village tracts of Pin Khin, Loi Maw, Paw In and Hmway Pyin. Then, the project constructed weirs, water reservoir (tank), water pipeline systems in those villages, in collaboration with the village community. The project aims to provide adequate water for consumption and for agriculture in project villages. Then, the project constructed weirs, water reservoir (tank), water pipeline systems in those villages, in collaboration with the village community. So far, benefits have been provided to 71 villages, covering a total of 4,704 households and 21,327 people. The detailed list of the “71” villages provided with the water system to date by the project for consumption and agriculture show in table.
Establishing water funds and organizing water committees the project-initiated water fund system through discussions with the village committees to organize village water committees. The water funds are collected on a monthly/ annual basis at a rate decided by the committees and ensure that villagers regularly contribute to the water fund. The purpose of establishing a water fund system and organizing water committees are to have adequate water for people and animals, to save time and reduce worry about water to transfer construction technology for the water system, to maintain the weirs, water tank and pipeline system in the future to repair quickly if there are any damages and to encourage villagers to cooperate. The project also provided additional water funding to the village water committees that have already contributed water funds. The summary for the number of water fund committees and water funds are show in table.
The project has installed signboards for all of the water supply systems that have already been constructed in the “79” villages in the project area, displaying the village community’s involvement and contribution.
